Don’t let external forces knock you off your game

When I was a child, I was on a path to be a professional dancer. Dancing was something I loved. I was good at it and knew that I had a long future.

At the age of 13, I was diagnosed with scoliosis. The symptoms included headaches and a lot of pain on the right side of my lower body.

After many doctors visits and x-rays, it was determined that I had to discontinue any physical activity that was jarring to my body.

Needless to say, I was devastated. Giving up my dream of being a dancer had never entered my mind. I was very sad, angry, depressed, worried. This experienced became practice for my relationship in dealing with external changes that I had limited or no control over, but had to deal with. I practice to this day and have learned how to reframe every situation to find the silver lining.

Whether it is dealing with aging, social status change, the lose of a loved one, career challenge, natural disasters, COVID-19 effects; there is NO REASON to look at it as a negative.

You can learn to Stay FIERCE in the face of anything and everything that comes your way.

The bottom line is things happen to all of us that jolt us out of our comfort zone.

This is a time you need time to let your emotions settle and you need time to get past them. Doing something that helps you get both centered and cared for it of paramount importance to ensure you are reacting from a healthy place.

MOURN

If you have lost someone or something, allow your emotions to just be. Avoiding them or distracting yourself from them does not do anything but postpone the inevitable and hold you back.
